Growing up, I never fit in the way everyone else did,
When we played team sports, I was always the last bid.
That extra player that neither team wanted or needed,
Captains would willing trade me, it was that deep seeded.
It wasn’t that I was bad at sports or anything like that,
I was just awkward, shy, quiet and funny to look at.
I didn’t have any friends and I didn’t really care,
I was content spending time alone, just being aware,
Watching children laugh or fall into the sand,
I never had to worry about lending a hand.
I was a nobody, in a playground of energy balls,
I would sit on the outskirts, then the bell calls.
